/// I handled all the sound design elements for the film. Kristina visited the studio to record all the dialogues with me, after which I compiled the best takes and designed the soundscape to complement the quirky and energetic tone of the film.
/// Animator Kristina Todd, a 4th-year Sheridan Animation student known for her silly comedy films, wanted a soundtrack that played on the comedic contrast between sappy melodies and hardcore metal. This meant tackling multiple “hit points” with rapid tempo changes to highlight the clashing themes. Kristina aimed for sharply contrasting themes to elevate the main motif, even within very short scenes—like the 7-second ice cream break or the 12-second farewell—requiring catchy, concise melodies to quickly set the mood. The director’s temp score provided a solid foundation, featuring classic heavy metal instrumentation with distorted guitars, bass, and drums.
